Charging While Driving

We’re moving farther away from combustion engine vehicles and more to alternatives like hybrids, electric, and ultimately, hydrogen-powered ones. Electric vehicles are currently “charging” ahead in popularity (pun intended), but one drawback is the fear of running out of power before you reach the next place to juice up. Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield, PA is excited to give a sneak-peek of an exciting development that Toyota is working on: a way to wirelessly charge your electric vehicle on the go.

While many details are still (understandably) under wraps, here’s one scenario. Let’s say your electric Toyota truck gets a notice that the juice is running low. You would wirelessly send an “energy transfer request” to another vehicle. The second vehicle accepts your request, and the requested amount of energy is transmitted to your truck. A variation on this is having electric vehicles automatically placing these transfer requests with each other through some kind of computer-readable medium.

One of the cool things about this technology is that it’s being designed to read traffic flow so that transfers can be made without missing a beat. Also, these electric Toyota vehicles would communicate with each other and match speed/route to make for the most efficient transfer of energy.

Details on how this will specifically transact within vehicles are still being worked out, but likely, it will be a supersized version of other kinds of wireless chargers that are already in play.

Peruzzi Toyota knows that this exciting development still has a way to go before it becomes mainstream – but we’re proud to be part of an automaker with such a vision for wireless technology. Just goes to show you that for the kinds of technology specifically designed to make your driving life ever-better, Toyota is the smart choice!

Toyota Granted The Most Patents In 2020

Toyota has continually looked to be the most forward-thinking of all automakers. Now comes word that that’s not just an idea or slogan. Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield, PA is proud to announce that, in 2020, the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted more patents to Toyota than any other car manufacturer. Just how many? The automaker got a total of 2,819 patents last year – up an impressive 4 percent from the year prior. Toyota has always put an exceptionally heavy emphasis on research and development. The company’s engineers and scientists are continually seeking improvements in automotive technology, as well as emerging technology overall. One measure of that? Since 2003, the company has received over 1,400 patents related to "driverless car" technology. That's helped improve safety systems like pedestrian detection, lane change warnings, and much more. And here are a few other statistics to prove how serious Toyota is about remaining out front of other automakers: since 2017, the company has invested over $1 billion in research and development as it relates to robotics and automated vehicles. On a similar note, Toyota invests an astonishing $1 million – every hour – towards emerging technology overall. Peruzzi Toyota is happy to share these comments from Frederick Mau, Director of Patent Licensing for Toyota Motor North America: "Innovation across Toyota is driving our transition to a mobility company, and Toyota's leading patent portfolio is one important measure of that progress along with our investments in research, collaboration, and partnerships." With over 2,800 patents in a single year, that’s proof enough that Toyota never, ever rests on its reputation as one of the top automotive brands on the market. The commitment to always improving and offering drivers the most cutting-edge technology for safety, design, and comfort makes choosing a Toyota a no-brainer. Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield, PA is proud to represent the brand and eager to show you the exciting models available!
