Toyota and Tesla? A Hot Rumor

While Toyota has been a leader in hybrid vehicles, it’s been taking its time moving forward on electric ones. That may be about to change, if a certain rumor flying around the auto world proves to be true: the automaker is reportedly in talks with Tesla to build an electric car together. Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield, PA can’t confirm this exciting (possible) news, but we’re happy to share what little details we’ve heard (and we’ll keep you posted as we learn more).OK, so Toyota and Tesla have done some work together before: the all-electric 2021 Toyota RAV4 utilizes a Tesla battery system. But this rumored development would be truly groundbreaking. By using Tesla’s electric vehicle tech and software and placing it within Toyota’s “platform” for mass-producing cars, it could put Toyota far ahead of other automakers in the electric vehicle space.According to earlier reports, Toyota and Tesla have been reviewing a potential partnership since last year. For its part, Tesla has said they’re open to licensing their technology to any automaking partner as a way to put more sustainable vehicles on the road.Toyota executives are keeping pretty quiet on these rumored developments, but it’s been a hot story on automotive-related social media sites. Suffice to say, it would put the automaker at the front of a particularly supercharged area of today’s vehicle creation. However, if you’re not up for waiting for this “next big thing,” Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield offers a wide selection of hybrids, like the above-mentioned RAV4. The combination of gas and electric provides the fuel economy and power you need, with the “green” technology you want. Toyota is committed to creating cars, trucks, and SUVs that perform in every real-world condition – but that also do their bit to make that world more environmentally-sound.

Toyota: On Top of the Sales Mountain!

Toyota just achieved an impressive milestone: during the second quarter of this year, the automaker outsold the mighty General Motors for the first time since 1998! From April through June, nearly 689,000 vehicles were sold in America, beating analysts’ expectations. That number tops GM’s number of just over 688,000 in sales – and Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield, PA is proud to have been a part of this big achievement. This last year has been challenging for every automaker for one big reason: the all-important semiconductor chip, which is crucial to operating everything from safety features to onboard “infotainment” panels, was in short supply. Toyota, however, was far more nimble in handling this global shortage. Jessica Caldwell, Executive Director of Insights at the online auto resource, Edmunds, notes that Toyota has a long tradition of seeing further down the road regarding their supply chain. Thus, they know how to manage lower inventories. Additional reports indicate that Toyota wisely had been stockpiling these chips, allowing them to maintain production. Of course, another reason for Toyota’s impressive sales achievement is the reputation for safety and quality. While Toyota didn’t comment on the chip issue, they offered the following statement on their sales achievement: “We are grateful to our loyal customers for putting their safety and trust in Toyota and Lexus vehicles.  Our focus has always been - and will continue to be - on being the best brand in terms of safety and quality in our customers’ minds.  And as part of our continuous improvement philosophy, we are always finding better ways of doing things, and ultimately make better products our customers love and trust.” Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield, PA is very proud to offer this exceptional line of vehicles, and to celebrate Toyota’s big sales success!
