When the snowflakes start falling, you don’t have to stay cooped up indoors. Instead, head outside and enjoy a few of these great Pennsylvania winter activities.
Ice Skating
Lace up your skates and take a spin around the ice. Presque Isle State Park, Cook Forest State Park, and Moraine State Park all offer recreational opportunities for ice skating. If you prefer urban ice skating, head to the Rothman Ice Rink at Dilworth Park in Philadelphia. Or check out the MassMutual Ice Rink at PPG Place or Schenley Park Ice Skating Rink in Pittsburgh.
Dog Sledding
While you usually don’t picture dog sledding in Pennsylvania, you can head to Nemacolin Woodlands Resort for this exciting and unforgettable experience. First take a tour of the dog yard that houses the 24 Alaskan huskies, and then get a short lesson on the basics of dog sledding. After that, you’re ready to hop on the sled, zip across the snow at up to 20 miles per hour, and see the Laurel Highlands countryside like you’ve never seen it before.
Snow Tubing
If you’re looking for even more speedy winter thrills, check out one of the great snow tubing parks around the state. Most ski areas have snow tube parks, including Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Hidden Valley Resort, and Shawnee Mountain. Or head to Camelback Mountain in the Pocono Mountains. With 42 lanes, this is the biggest snow tubing park in the country.
Make this winter fun and memorable by getting outside and taking part in these great winter activities around Pennsylvania.
