Philadelphia is the birthplace of American democracy. Philly is where you can see the famous Liberty Bell, take a “Rocky” movie tour, and enjoy a delicious Philly cheesesteak sandwich. If it’s your first visit to Philly, here are three attractions you shouldn’t miss.

Independence National Historical Park

All patriots must head straight to Independence National Historical Park, nicknamed “America’s most historic square mile.” It’s home to all the important sites dedicated to the American Revolution and the nation’s founding history. Independence Hall — where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were signed — and the Liberty Bell Center are both located in the park.

Reading Terminal Market

Foodies should head to the city’s oldest farmer’s market, Reading Terminal Market. Feast your eyes and fill your belly on all the delectable foods, including Middle Eastern, Thai, and Indian cuisines. If you’re looking for the best locally grown produce, locally sourced meats, fresh seafood, and amazing cheeses and baked goods, this market has it all. You will also find a selection of kitchenware, table linens, crafts, and gifts.

Philadelphia Museum of Art

The great thing about visiting the Philadelphia Museum of Art is that you get to run up the “Rocky steps,” take a photo at the bronze Rocky Statue, and then head into the country’s third-largest art museum. To see as much of the museum’s extensive collection as possible, set aside a full day. This allows you enough time to browse the vast collection of art and photography without feeling rushed.

There are many more great reasons to visit Philly, so make sure you plan another visit to the City of Brotherly Love soon.
