Good news for electric car drivers — Toyota is developing a solar-powered car that’s going to change the way we drive. Here are some things we can expect from the new wave of electric Toyotas.
The Solar Panels
Toyota recently announced that it’s testing vehicles equipped with solar panels to make way for the next generation of electrified vehicles. These solar panels stretch across the top of the test vehicles to let them recharge their batteries while in motion. This will significantly improve the range of all-electric vehicles.
The Range
The solar panels allow the Toyota models to charge enough power to take on an extra 27.7 miles a day. For instance, while you’re parked at work, your Toyota is always charging, so you can travel without worrying about finding a charging station. This takes much of the worry about finding public charging stations out of the equation.
The Timeline
Toyota will start testing these cars of the future in the summer of 2019. That means we can expect to see solar-powered cars in a few years. Just when you thought charging your electric car at home was convenient enough, Toyota decided to take it to the next level.
Toyota is always coming up with new ways to make driving a more eco-friendly and more exciting experience. We can’t wait to see these solar-powered cars roll into dealerships. When they do, you can expect to get a test drive of one at Peruzzi Toyota.
