For decades, Toyota has grown to become a household name that means quality. While it’s taken years to earn the trust of the American car-buying public, any company knows that adapting is a must for survival. Toyota’s recent move from California to Texas is just one of several innovations the automaker is driving toward. Your Toyota dealer in the Trenton Area gives you the scoop.

The What

Recently, Toyota broke ground in Plano, Texas, for its state-of-the-art production and research facility. The design for the campus will allow for around 4,000 employees in everything from R&D to spray coating. The move marks a shift in the company to consolidate its various locations around the country, including California.

The Why

On the surface, it makes sense for almost any business to be “under one roof,” but it goes deeper than that. Texas has made itself extremely appealing to businesses by reducing corporate taxes and limiting red tape that companies need to wade through. Even the employees that Toyota lures to Texas will receive tax breaks and benefits. However, Toyota’s North American CEO, Jim Lentz, points out another reason. Toyota is in a race to innovate and so creating a more collaborative and, frankly, younger work force with new ideas is part of Toyota’s strategy to be ahead of the curve on things like fuel cell technology and driverless systems.

The Result

While the new facility is going to take some time, the consumer should benefit in the long run since Toyota will be able to develop and manufacture at quicker rates and lower costs.
