Are you looking for fun family outing ideas or places to walk your dogs? Enjoy the outdoors by exploring these scenic trails in the Hatfield area.

Wissahickon Valley Park

This wonderful wooded park just under 20 miles from Hatfield is a great place to walk and bike. Dogs are also permitted on the 50 miles of nature trails. Other park activities include hiking, fishing, picnicking, running, horseback riding, and birdwatching. Forbidden Drive is the main trail, with many hikes diverging from it. Friends of Wissahickon, a nonprofit organization, collaborates with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation to maintain the park.

Gwynedd Preserve

The Gwynedd Preserve is 8 miles from Hatfield in the suburbs of Blue Bell and North Wales. The scenic meadows, wetlands, and forests connect to preserved lands in the Wissahickon Creek watershed. The 6 to 9 miles of dog-friendly trails are great for walking and enjoying nature.

The Connecting Frick’s Trail and Chestnut Street Trail

Hatfield Township extended these two trails to connect residential communities. The 1.5-mile Frick’s Trail begins at Sterling Drive and extends southeast to Line Lexington Road. It’s shady most of the way, with a few open spaces near the neighborhoods, and is suitable for all levels of walkers and pups.

The Chester Street Trail is also 1.5 miles and links several neighborhoods in Hatfield Township to the downtown Hatfield Borough. The walking, jogging, and biking asphalt trail passes Hatfield Community Park and Pool, the Municipal Building, and School Road Park.

Walk these area trails to get to know and love your town.
