Fall is here and Hatfield Toyota wants drivers to remember a few tips for fall that can ensure the health of your car. Those that are lucky enough to enjoy the four seasons also have to ensure that they are prepared for the potential damage that the changing seasons may do to their vehicle.
- Ensure that your fluids are checked. Some people may add water to their radiator or washer fluids at times when the weather is warmer or in the case of an emergency. Make sure that your wiper fluid and coolant was not supplemented with water during the warmer months and if it was drain this and put in the correct fluid. The water base products may freeze as temperatures get colder doing damage to your vehicle.
- Check your heater to ensure it works. For some car owners, come fall the heater in the vehicle may not have been used in several months. That 30-degree morning is not the best time to realize your heat isn’t working properly.
- Avoid parking under trees when possible. Leaves and dropping debris from the changing trees can leave traces of the passing summer all over your vehicle. For some this may result in damage to the top of your vehicle. If you do get debris on the top of your car you can always used a soft bristle snowbrush to clean this off.
- Check your tire pressure and tread. While it might not be snowing yet, wet cold roads and lots of falling leaves can make roads slippery. Checking to make sure your tires are in good condition and well inflated can save you from a slip and slide on a chilly fall day.
