The Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic have long been staples in their class for both reliability and consumer appeal, leading them to be two of the most popular cars sold on the market today. Pennsylvania Toyota dealership wants to help you to make the difficult choice when comparing these two top runners in the mid-size sedan class.
The 2014 Toyota Corolla is equipped with a 1.8 liter engine that features dual overhead camshafts and dual variable valve timing with intelligence. This combination is capable of producing 132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. The Honda Civic is equipped with a 1.8 liter single overhead camshaft, aluminum alloy 4 cylinder engine that produces 140 hp.
Both the Corolla and the Civic have very similar interior dimensions. It is very clear in the interior however that Toyota has succeeded in making some substantial improvements in term of passenger comfort accommodations with additional legroom for rear seat passengers. The Corolla also now offers a 60/40 split folding rear seat. This feature is unavailable in the lower trim level versions of the Honda Civic.
Technological features are another area where Toyota has really taken the opportunity to shine with the Corolla. Both the Corolla and the Civic offer standard audio systems that are very similar to each other. However, that is where the similarities end. The 2014 Corolla has optional Display Audio with Navigation and Toyota’s Entune App Suite. Even the higher trim levels of the Civic simply are unable to compete with the technology on display in the Corolla.
Both of these vehicles are certainly impressive and their newest models will afford them continued reign in their class. However, the 2014 Toyota Corolla, with a combination of its impressive features and innovative technology makes it more appealing to the consumer than the 2014 Honda Civic.
