Summer is rapidly winding down, and before you know it, the colder months will be upon us.  Before you get caught off guard, it’s a good idea to put a fall/winter checkup for your vehicle on your calendar.  This will ensure that it keeps you safely on the road during those unexpected storms and more that crop up when the weather starts to turn.   Peruzzi Mitsubishi has seen it all and suggests these smart, key moves to keep your vehicle in peak condition.

OIL CHANGE

You’ve heard it before: oil is the lifeblood of your car.  Keeping it regularly changed/clean will keep your vehicle running well and extend its life.

CHECK YOUR BRAKES

Better to do this now than before you hit an icy patch and discover that they’re not working properly. Ensure that your brake pads aren’t worn and squishy.  If they are, get them replaced so that you’ll have full stopping power when you most need it.

TIRES, TIRES, TIRES

This is critical. Colder months cause tire pressure to drop – one to two pounds for every ten-degree change.  That can seriously impact your driving safety.  Another aspect?  Tire tread.  If your tires are worn down, get them replaced to ensure you have full contact with the road during icy, rainy, snowy months.

GIVE YOUR BATTERY A TEST

Nothing like going to start your car on a chilly morning and … nothing.  Before that happens, give your battery a check.

WINDSHIELD WIPER BOOST

The conditions that your windshield endures in colder weather calls for a stronger wiper formula.  You’ll need one that can handle freezing temps, road salt and more.  So fill your reservoir with a wiper fluid specially meant for winter months.

SET UP A WINTER EMERGENCY ROAD KIT

You may have done everything right, but there will be times when conditions may strand you.  Ensure that you’re prepared.  Your typical emergency kit may include flares, jumper cables, a first-aid kit, charger for your phone and extra water.  Winter months require additional things like a small shovel to clear snow, kitty litter to help with traction on wet or icy roads and a functioning spare tire.

So enjoy these last “dog days,” but know that colder weather is on the way – and prepare accordingly.  Got questions or need some help?  The service department at Peruzzi Mitsubishi will get you fully ready.

If you are an avid supporter of the Land Cruiser, you’ll be pleased to know there are several upcoming changes to the 2021 SUV based on current reports.

  1. Power

The SUV is powered by a 5.7-liter V-8 engine supported by an 8-speed automatic transmission. The powerful engine produces 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. The SUV comes standard with four-wheel-drive and can handle off-road excursions due to features such as off-road turn assist, selectable multi-terrain driving modes, hill start assist, downhill-assist control, and crawl control.

One of the projected changes for the 2021 Land Cruiser will be the replacement of the V-8 5.7-liter with a V-6 twin-turbo engine accompanied by a 10-speed automatic gearbox for better efficiency. There is also the possibility a hybrid trim will be added to the lineup.

  1. Suspension

The current Land Cruiser chassis is referred to as the 200-series, which has been the standard since 2007. Reports have confirmed the 200-series will be replaced by a 300-series Land Cruiser. The new series is currently in development and scheduled to be ready for market in 2021. Reports note the Land Cruiser will retain its body-on-frame construction for the updated 2021 version.

  1. Interior

It’s presumed additional changes will be forthcoming for the 2021 update such as a new and more in-depth infotainment system and the inclusion of updated safety technologies such as lane-keeping assist.

Speculation is high regarding the potential changes to the iconic Land Cruiser that is expected to make an appearance with a prototype at the Tokyo Motor Show in October.

Welcome to the future of hybrid SUVs. The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport concept is quickly becoming a reality, and we can’t wait to see it in person. Here is a quick look into this new masterpiece.

Plug-In Hybrid

The 2020 Atlas Cross Sport will be a plug-in hybrid model that will take gasoline-free driving ranges to the next level. Volkswagen is designing it to be able to travel 26 miles on pure electric energy before it switches over to gasoline reserves. It will be equipped with two electric motors, an 18-kWh lithium battery, and a 3.6-liter VR-6 engine that will give it up to 355 horsepower.

Capability

So long, dull hybrids — the 2020 Atlas Cross Sport will be full of performance features to excite your drive. The 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system gives superior traction on the road. Switch between seven drive modes to communicate with your Atlas about the road ahead. Switch to the sporty GTE mode to experience the 2020 Atlas’ raw potential — up to 494 pound-feet of torque.

Interior

From what we know of the 2020 Atlas Cross Sport interior, it looks like the SUV of the future. Minimalist, modern designs throughout the cabin give it an atmosphere that will take us into the next generation of vehicles. We expect the interior to be just as exciting as what’s under its hood.

When the 2020 Atlas hybrid hits the market, you can expect your test drive to be waiting at Smithtown Volkswagen. We’re as excited as you are to see what the future of Volkswagen holds.

Just like everything these days, things move super-fast in the automotive industry.  Toyota is staying ahead of the wave of all this new technology with plenty of exciting developments –and one of them is the Toyota TJ Cruiser.  Peruzzi Toyota is proud to be part of this leading-edge company and excited to share the news about this next-level vehicle.

The Toyota TJ Cruiser has been one of “the” hot rumors in the auto industry, with a concept model unveiled a couple of years ago.  Now comes some insider news that the Toyota TJ Cruiser has gone into production and may be offered very soon in the American market.

So why is this particular vehicle so buzzed-about and exceptional?  For starters, it’s a unique blend of SUV and minivan.  The front doors open like a normal car, while the back doors slide like a minivan.  Also, the passenger seat folds down to create optimal cargo space.  The advance news includes reliable gossip that the original design that was unveiled a few years back has been upgraded from a vehicle that once seated up to five to a new design that includes an optional third row seat.

The Toyota TJ Cruiser is also said to feature a 1.8-liter hybrid power-train along the lines of what you’ll find in the Toyota Prius.  So not only is it environmentally-kind, it’s extremely fuel-efficient.  Something else unique?  The engine compartment will open in the “opposite” direction, kind of like a semi-truck.  Cool!

So when might you expect to get a personal, up-close look at this exciting new vehicle?  There’s no hard date, but rumors have been flying that the first one rolls off the line in October and will be sold in Japan in December; the further buzz is that it could show up in America soon after.  And the first place where you can see the Toyota TJ Cruiser?  Peruzzi Toyota, of course!

Good news for electric car drivers — Toyota is developing a solar-powered car that’s going to change the way we drive. Here are some things we can expect from the new wave of electric Toyotas.

The Solar Panels

Toyota recently announced that it’s testing vehicles equipped with solar panels to make way for the next generation of electrified vehicles. These solar panels stretch across the top of the test vehicles to let them recharge their batteries while in motion. This will significantly improve the range of all-electric vehicles.

The Range

The solar panels allow the Toyota models to charge enough power to take on an extra 27.7 miles a day. For instance, while you’re parked at work, your Toyota is always charging, so you can travel without worrying about finding a charging station. This takes much of the worry about finding public charging stations out of the equation.

The Timeline

Toyota will start testing these cars of the future in the summer of 2019. That means we can expect to see solar-powered cars in a few years. Just when you thought charging your electric car at home was convenient enough, Toyota decided to take it to the next level.

Toyota is always coming up with new ways to make driving a more eco-friendly and more exciting experience. We can’t wait to see these solar-powered cars roll into dealerships. When they do, you can expect to get a test drive of one at Peruzzi Toyota.
