Every Toyota has been built to rigorous specifications, designed to run trouble-free for years.  But life happens. Every machine may experience a glitch now and then, and that can include your car’s engine.  There are some simple ways to ensure that you’re never left stranded by the side of the road and smoke coming out from under the hood.  The service experts at Peruzzi Toyota offer these helpful tips to recognize potential damage to your engine – and how to prevent it.  The investment in keeping your engine in good shape will pay off down the road.

LISTEN

Most of us “know” what our vehicle sounds like.  So you’ll know when something sounds strange.  Instead of just turning up the radio, pay attention to any odd knocks, rumblings, or “squealing” sounds.  That’s an early warning that something is off with your engine.  Don’t wait:  get it in for a look-see by one of the experienced mechanics at Peruzzi Toyota.

SMOKE OR STEAM: NOT A GOOD THING

If you spot steam or smoke coming out from under the hood, it’s a definite sign that your engine may be in distress.  It could be anything from a faulty emission system, an oil leak, an engine that’s overheating, or a gas leak.  But don’t play a guessing game:  have an expert look at it ASAP.

WHAT IS THAT SMELL?

While you may be used to smelling things in your car like dirty sports equipment or that drive-through meal you had yesterday, some “smells” are a warning sign. If the scent of rotten eggs, gasoline, “syrup” or mildew wafts your way, it’s an indicator that something may be off with your engine.  Have it investigated immediately to prevent further damage.

The simplest way to ensure that your Toyota’s engine runs problem-free for years is to stick to a regular service plan.  Preventive service is an easy, affordable alternative to what you MIGHT have to shell out if your engine ever flames out.  Talk to Peruzzi Toyota today to see what kind of quick and easy service plan they have to offer.  Every time you start your car, you’ll be glad to know that your day (and vehicle) will be running more smoothly!

With Philadelphia less than 30 miles south of Hatfield, and the variety of family-friendly things offered in the city, it’s the perfect day trip. Kids will get a kick out of the interactive exhibits at the Crayola Experience and Please Touch Museum at Fairmount Park’s Memorial Hall. Learn more about our nation’s history while visiting the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Betsy Ross House, and Franklin Museum. As you walk along the trail, you may just spot bobcats and foxes as well. Be sure to check ahead when planning your trip, as the Preserve may temporarily close if there’s heavy snow and ice.

With so much to offer within a short drive, it’s time to plan your day trip and set off on an adventure with the family.

So you’ve just bought a new Toyota.  Congratulations!  Among the many important details are things like having insurance to protect you in case of an accident.  But what about other forms of protection for your new Toyota?  After all, daily driving takes its toll.  There are also random glitches that may occur down the road. The good news is, Peruzzi Toyota offers several affordable vehicle protection options that will keep your ride in peak shape – and save you money (and worry) in the long run.

PREPAID MAINTENANCE

Every new Peruzzi Toyota comes with a complimentary ToyotaCare No-Cost Maintenance Plan.  Your basic maintenance costs are covered for 2 years or 25,000 miles (whichever comes first).  But what about after that?  The ToyotaCarePlus plan will handle your maintenance costs for 3-5 years (depending on which level you choose).  The best part is, you can lock it in at today’s prices, saving you extra money in case the costs for those maintenance procedures go up.  Even better, you’ll also get an extension on your standard ToyotaCare 24 Hour Roadside Assistance plan.

GUARANTEED AUTO PROTECTION

Hopefully, you’ve never experienced the “total loss” of your vehicle due to an accident.  But we bet you know that often, all the insurance company pays is “current market value.”  If you still owe money on the lease or financing, you could find yourself in the hole.  Guaranteed Auto Protection coverage will pay the difference between what you owe and what the insurance company pays.  That can potentially save you thousands of dollars.

WINDOW TINTING

Tinted windows aren’t just a style statement; they offer a smart way to minimize damage to the interior of your car from harsh sunlight.  Plus, they reduce glare, as well as the inside temperature on hot days.  One more bonus?  The treatment makes window glass more resistant to breaking (handy if any thief ever tries to smash it in).

EXCESS WEAR AND USE PROTECTION

Anyone who leases a vehicle understands the importance of keeping the car in peak shape (or paying the price when you turn it in).  However, if you or your passengers are prone to spilling soda on the seats, dropping muddy sports equipment in the back or smacking the doors against stationary objects, you might want to check out an Excess Wear and Use plan (EWU).  This can cover specific “incidents” that might be picked up on (and charged) at the end of your lease. Ultimately, it will make the pain and worry of “real life” leasing less stressful (and costly).

Peruzzi Toyota is dedicated to giving you the best deal possible on a new vehicle.  That includes the various quality protection options available to you.  When you come by their showroom, let the experts show you the full range of vehicle protection options that will keep your new ride looking – and running – great.

On a day-to-day basis, the thing that most impacts drivers is… how often do they have to refill the gas tank?  This makes the issue of “fuel economy” so critical to the pocketbook.  While the mere act of daily driving will impact how much gas your vehicle uses, there are some smart practices that will allow you to get as much from each gallon as possible.  The experts at Peruzzi Toyota offer these smart tips to help drivers maximize every precious drop of fuel.

MAINTENANCE

When your vehicle isn’t running at peak performance, the engine will necessarily work harder – and burn more fuel.  That’s why it’s a smart investment to get regular engine tune-ups, oil changes, and routine maintenance tasks.  Peruzzi Toyota can handle all of them, and in a way that’s quick, convenient and affordable.  Believe us, it will pay off in the long (and short) run.

BETTER DRIVING HABITS

Sure, you may be in a hurry (who isn’t these days?).  But aggressive driving habits eat up a ton of fuel.  Speeding, as well as “stop and go” practices, really eat into your gas gauge.  Learn to take it down a notch, pace yourself and ease up on the brake and gas pedals.  Your wallet will thank you.

KEEP YOUR TIRES UP TO SPEC

Tires that are under or over-inflated create “issues” for your vehicle.  Keep a check on their correct pressure.  Not only will you ride safer, but you’ll also see a “bonus” in your gas mileage.

CHECK THE GAS CAP

Believe it or not, not every driver is hip to the state of their gas cap.  One that’s not fully-closed can leak gas fumes, and it may cause other wonky issues (like a car that won’t always start).  Also, keep an eye on the rubber seal around that cap; it can degrade over time and allow oxygen to seep into the tank – which means you’ll burn more fuel.

SKIP THE IDLING

You pull over to grab a quick bite.  It seems smarter to let the vehicle stay “idling” while you run in, but that’s not the case.  Experts note that an engine that’s idling sucks up anywhere from a half-gallon to a gallon of fuel per hour.  And that’s not to mention the carbon dioxide it pumps into the atmosphere.  Those who think letting an engine run to “warm it up” in the morning are also mistaken: modern engines don’t need more than about 20 seconds to be good to go. Beyond that, you’re burning fuel and wasting money.

PICK YOUR TIME FOR A FILL-UP

Filling your tank in the morning, versus the end of the day, can result in savings.

This is because underground gas station tanks are cooler in the morning and (not getting into the physics of it) you simply get “more” passing through the system – and into your tank.

Peruzzi Toyota is proud to offer some of the most economical vehicles on the road.  But if you want to know more about how to get more money per mile, get in touch and let our experts share their knowledge.

The annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Philly is an event that everyone looks forward to. The first parade was held way back in 1771 and has continued for 245 years. It always takes place on the Sunday before St. Patrick’s Day and is the largest Philadelphia parade with 20,000 participants.

  1. When Is It?

This year, since St. Patrick’s Day is on Sunday, March 17, the annual parade will take place the week before on Sunday, March 10. The day will begin with the Commemorative Parade Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, and then the parade starts at 11 a.m. at 16th & JFK Boulevard. Everyone should keep in mind that this is daylight savings so make sure to change your clocks the night before so you get there on time.

  1. Parking

It is always a good idea to find your spot for the parade early, and there are many parking garages throughout the city where you can park. Keep in mind that there will be parking restrictions on certain streets. These will have signs designating them as “Temporary No Parking.”

  1. The Parade

The parade goes on rain or shine. There is a lot to take in throughout the whole event, and if you want a chance to see the performances, make sure to get a spot near the stage and dance floor on Market Street in between South Sixth Street and North Independence.

Keep all this information in mind as you plan for the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Philly.

  1. Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site

Edgar Allan Poe lived in a small house in Philadelphia for only a year, but it was an important time in his writing career. While living on North Seventh Street with his wife and mother, he wrote “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Gold Bug.” The home is now a museum with tours that bring visitors not only through the main areas of the house but also to the basement. Some people think that the basement might have even inspired the story “The Black Cat.”

  1. Wagner Free Institute of Science

The Wagner Free Institute of Science is a strange and wonderful place that not many people know about. The museum sits in an old Victorian home and features the natural history collections of William Wagner, a gentleman naturalist who lived in Philadelphia in the 1800s. The exhibits include cabinets filled taxidermy, skeletons, fossils, and many other oddities.

  1. Bowman’s Hill Tower

Bowman’s Hill Tower is a stone tower in that sits on top of Bowman’s Hill. There are many stories surrounding the tower and its purpose, but it is worth a visit. It stands 125 feet tall and is made completely from local stones. An elevator goes about three-quarters of the way up, along with 23 spiral stairs to let you get to the top.

Go off the beaten path and visit these unusual sites near Hatfield.
