In the last decade or so, changes in car design and fuel systems have rapidly evolved. These days, you can take your pick from among standard combustion engines, electric cars, or hybrids, which combine both. Toyota continues to evolve towards more efficient and eco-friendly vehicles with its 2021 Mirai model. Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield, PA is excited to share details on this cutting-edge car.

The Toyota Mirai sedan is powered by hydrogen, specifically a hydrogen-powered fuel cell (which technically makes it an electric car). The advantage of hydrogen power is that it creates zero emissions (just water vapor) and can get twice as much mileage as a Tesla. Toyota debuted the first Mirai in 2015 and has continued to perfect it ever since.

For 2021, the Toyota Mirai packs a larger, more efficient fuel cell which can take it up to 400 miles per “tank.” It’s also larger and wider than the debut model. The interior has been made more luxurious, with heated seats, head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, and a full infotainment system. Naturally, expect the full suite of Toyota safety features, and either a 19-inch or 20-inch wheel depending on the trim model (currently, there’s an XLE and a Limited trim available).

Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield notes that hydrogen-powered cars – including the Toyota Mirai –aren’t widely available as yet, mainly because of the present lack of fueling stations. Currently, Toyota has been offering 3 years of “free” hydrogen to its customers, and that program is likely to continue with the new model of the Mirai.

Despite these temporary limitations, the moves that Toyota is making in this exciting new area of automotive technology are groundbreaking. As hydrogen becomes a bigger player in the industry, Peruzzi Toyota is proud to be a part of this big forward move into the future.
