While Toyota has been a leader in hybrid vehicles, it’s been taking its time moving forward on electric ones. That may be about to change, if a certain rumor flying around the auto world proves to be true: the automaker is reportedly in talks with Tesla to build an electric car together. Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield, PA can’t confirm this exciting (possible) news, but we’re happy to share what little details we’ve heard (and we’ll keep you posted as we learn more).

OK, so Toyota and Tesla have done some work together before: the all-electric 2021 Toyota RAV4 utilizes a Tesla battery system. But this rumored development would be truly groundbreaking. By using Tesla’s electric vehicle tech and software and placing it within Toyota’s “platform” for mass-producing cars, it could put Toyota far ahead of other automakers in the electric vehicle space.

According to earlier reports, Toyota and Tesla have been reviewing a potential partnership since last year.

For its part, Tesla has said they’re open to licensing their technology to any automaking partner as a way to put more sustainable vehicles on the road.

Toyota executives are keeping pretty quiet on these rumored developments, but it’s been a hot story on automotive-related social media sites. Suffice to say, it would put the automaker at the front of a particularly supercharged area of today’s vehicle creation. However, if you’re not up for waiting for this “next big thing,” Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield offers a wide selection of hybrids, like the above-mentioned RAV4. The combination of gas and electric provides the fuel economy and power you need, with the “green” technology you want.

Toyota is committed to creating cars, trucks, and SUVs that perform in every real-world condition – but that also do their bit to make that world more environmentally-sound.
