2018 Toyota Highlander

If you’re in the market for an a new vehicle but looking for something a little larger than Toyota’s popular RAV4 compact crossover, look no further than the brand new 2018 Toyota Highlander. This SUV is sized perfectly for a family and even features a third row of seating. While the Highlander is larger than a compact SUV, it’s smaller than the full-size Sequoia SUV so it strikes the perfect balance between the two. Not much has changed from the 2017 model of the Toyota Highlander to the new 2018 model. Last year’s highly-rated and well-received refresh of the vehicle has returned in the 2018 model and is largely unchanged.

There are three options for engine in the 2018 Highlander. The based engine is a 2.7 liter I-4 that boasts 185 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. If you’re looking for something more powerful, you can upgrade to the 3.5-liter V-6 engine which increases your power to an incredible 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. If you’re looking for slightly more power and a way to save money on fuel, you’re going to want to upgrade to hybrid powertrain which combines the 3.5-liter V6 with three electric motors, a CVT, and a nickel metal hydride battery. With this combination, you can top out at a whopping 306 hp. EPA estimated fuel economy varies by engine type and trim level, but the gas powered engines top out at 20/27 mpg city/highway and the Highlander Hybrid tops out at 30/28 mpg.

All 2018 Toyotas come with Toyota Safety Sense standard, including the 2018 Highlander. You can rest assured knowing forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control are keeping your you and your family safe in your Highlander. In addition to these standard safety features, the XLE, SE, Limited, and Limited Platinum trim levels feature blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.

Even with a third row of seating, the Highlander still has plenty of cargo space. It features 13.8 cubic feet behind the third row of seats, 42.3 cubic feet behind the second row of seats, and up to 83.7 cubic feet behind the front seats in the LE and LE Plus. In addition to great cargo space, all Highlander models feature a multi-information display, an Entune infotainment system with a touchscreen of at least 6.1 inches Bluetooth connectivity, and a rearview camera.

It’s safe to say, that if you’re looking for a safe, reliable, and fun to drive mid-size crossover, the 2018 Toyota Highlander is the perfect vehicle for you. Its standard safety features, engine options, cargo space, and hybrid option makes it the perfect choice for anyone in the market for a new SUV.
