Toyota has been teasing a return of the legendary Supra line for several years. A grand reveal at the Geneva Motor Show showed the similarly inspired GR Supra Racing Concept, but there’s been little information about the commercially available Supra. We’ve gathered everything we know about this upcoming vehicle to get you in the loop.

Co-Development

The Toyota Supra is being developed alongside BMW for a unique blend of Japanese and German engineering that promises to blow the competition out of the water. This co-development will give the Supra access to BMW’s stellar inline-6 engine that will give the Supra the racing performance that is generating so much buzz. The Supra is expected to come in at 335 horsepower and 332 pounds per feet of torque.

Reverse Design

The Geneva Motor Show grand reveal of the GR Supra Racing Concept may have seemed like a disappointment to fans anticipating a look at the street-ready Supra, but it actually gave us a close look at what to expect for the upcoming vehicle design. The head designers at Toyota are going in the opposite direction of many manufacturers for the Supra. Most race cars are based on street-appropriate vehicles, but Toyota is instead basing their street vehicle on their race car. This reversed process may help give the Supra the boost it needs to be a true competitor in the performance vehicle market, going up against brands like Porsche.

More information about the Supra will be coming the closer we get to the release date, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
