First, have your AC unit thoroughly checked by one of our service technicians. We’ll make sure all hoses, belts, and seals are in peak shape, the refrigerant is at capacity, and everything is running at peak efficiency. After all, nothing kills summer fun quicker than an unexpectedly sweltering car. On a related note, purchase a dashboard sunshade to keep the interior temperature down (especially if you’re parked in direct sunlight) and crack the windows to let any hot air escape. That will give your air conditioner an assist once you turn it on, helping it to not have to work so hard.
Other things on your road trip checklist should be checking engine coolant levels, and your wiper fluids and blades. A fresh oil change will start you off on the right footing, as will a thorough battery check. And speaking of “footing,” you’ll want to check that your tires are properly inflated (seasonal changes affect air pressure) and that the treads are in good condition.
