Car enthusiasts have been buzzing about a mysterious “teaser” campaign unleashed by Toyota within the automotive press, which indicates something big on the horizon. While the automaker is keeping details under wraps for now, smart car sleuths have put a few clues together. Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield, PA is waiting for official confirmation, but in the meantime, here’s what we suspect is in the works.
The teaser ads show the profile of what appears to be an updated sedan. There are only two sedans in the Toyota family that haven’t gotten a recent makeover, the Corolla and Camry. Car experts are betting that the “mystery vehicle” is the Camry, since it hasn’t seen many changes in recent years, whereas the Corolla has been revamped into a hybrid model and with all-wheel drive. So, the smart money is on a redesigned Camry.
The Toyota Camry, available at Peruzzi Toyota, has been one of the world’s most popular sedans ever since its introduction back in 1982. If this familiar vehicle is in line for a redesign, it’s likely to be one done from the ground-up. Experts predict there will likely be hybrid options and some kind of all-wheel drive. The V6 engine which has powered the Camry could also benefit from the same turbocharged 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine currently available on other Toyota models like the Highlander.
The teaser campaign also hints at a sexier, sleeker profile which will be a welcome change as well.
Rumors are that this brand-new Toyota model – whatever it may be – will most likely be revealed to the world at the prestigious Los Angeles Auto Show, scheduled for mid-November.
