Tips for Maintaining Good Tires
Maintaining your car’s tires is crucial. When improperly inflated, worn, or mismatched, bad tires can cause serious damage to your car and leave your family vulnerable. Here are a few tips for keeping your Toyota’s tires in top-notch condition.
Start With the Right Tires
It’s hard to maintain your car’s tires when they’re mismatched or you have the wrong tires for the season. Invest in good, top-quality tires based on how and when you intend to drive. This often means replacing tires with the changing seasons, such as switching from all-season to snow tires in winter, but the extra effort is worth it.
Maintain Proper Inflation and Alignment
Keeping your tires inflated is the biggest thing you can do to prolong their life span and enjoy optimal performance. While you can easily check and adjust tire pressure yourself, we also inspect the tires at Peruzzi Toyota with every tune up.
Also, improper alignment prematurely wears tires. Keeping your wheels aligned boosts your car’s performance and fuel economy, ensuring your tires will last a long time.
Keep Them Clean
Tires are just as susceptible to dirt and grime as the rest of your vehicle, but they’re often overlooked at the car wash. In fact, slush, snow, salt, and other debris can cause rubber to deteriorate prematurely. As such, you should always hand wash the tires with warm, soapy water, avoiding any high-pressure units or petroleum-based chemicals that can harm the rubber.
Don’t overlook the importance of proper tire maintenance. Schedule a tire inspection with Peruzzi Toyota today.

Steps for Trading in Your Used Toyota

Trading in your used Toyota is a great way to get a good deal on your next one. Here are some helpful tips for getting the most out of your trade.
Spruce up the Car
You’re more likely to get more from your trade-in when you spruce up your used Toyota. Tackle any pet or smoke odors, remove personal items, invest in a detail service, and wash the car inside and out. Remember, the better the car looks, the more valuable it is for resale.
Provide Your Records
If you’ve kept your car’s maintenance records, be sure to bring them to the dealership when negotiating your trade. Doing so gives you a stronger position when negotiating the car’s trade-in value.
Negotiate the Smart Way
Most buyers don’t negotiate their car’s trade-in value until they’re already in new-car negotiations. While there’s nothing wrong with this move, you can actually get a better deal by negotiating the trade-in value first before shopping for a new car. Also, be sure to research beforehand so you have a better idea of your car’s value.
Consider Tax Advantages
In some states, you’re allowed to pay sales tax on your new car’s purchase price minus what you get for the trade-in. This reduction can add up to as much as 11 percent in savings, which is substantial. In Pennsylvania, both the local tax and 6 percent sales tax are calculated minus the trade-in value.
When you’re ready to trade in your used car, stop by Peruzzi Toyota. We’ll be happy to help!

Winter weather can do a number on your car’s components, especially the filters. So, make sure you schedule your spring tuneup at Peruzzi Toyota to have these important filters inspected and replaced.
Oil Filter
A good rule to follow is to change your car’s oil every season. This also means having your oil filter changed every 3,000 miles or three months, whichever comes first. Having the oil and filter changed by spring ensures your car is ready to take on the new season and operate at peak efficiency.
Air Filter
An engine’s air filter is designed to filter out any impurities taken into the engine for combustion. When it becomes dirty or clogged, your car can lose power or fuel mileage. While there’s no set recommendation for changing an air filter, it’s a good idea to switch it out once a year. Since you’re already prepping your car for spring, now is as good a time as any!
Fuel Filter
In gas-powered engines, the fuel filter removes impurities to help the car run smoother. Fuel filters also prevent corrosion from building up in diesel engines. You’ll want to check your owner’s manual for fuel filter replacement recommendations, or ask your technician. Most experts recommend having it changed anywhere from 20,000 to 40,000 miles. With today’s cleaner engine designs, however, you could push it to 90,000 miles depending on your vehicle.
Don’t wait any longer to replace your car’s dirty filters. Schedule an appointment with the technicians at Peruzzi Toyota and have your car ready to go by spring!

2016 Toyota Corolla vs 2017 Toyota Corolla
The 2017 model marks the 50th anniversary of the Corolla, and Toyota went all out for upgrades. There are quite a few updates from the 2016 model including more high-tech features, like a rear-view camera.
1. Exterior
The basic shape is still the same, but there are a few small changes. The head and taillights have both been redesigned. The lower grille was also redone so that it now has the same shape as lower grilles on other Toyotas.
2. Engine and transmission
The 2017 Corolla got an engine upgrade. Now, every trim besides the LE Eco has a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with 132 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. The LE Eco’s engine can make 140 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque. But by far the biggest difference is that every 2017 trim has a continuously variable automatic transmission, or a CVT. While most cars shift between 4 or 6 speeds or gears as the miles per hour increases, CVTs don’t use gears at all. Instead, they keep the engine speed consistent as you accelerate. For drivers, that means a better fuel economy, even in cities.
3. Safety
The 2016 Corolla was awarded 5-star rating by the government for crashes. The 2017 model hasn’t been tested yet but seems to improve upon its predecessor in every way. In addition to most standard safety features, the 2017 Corolla has collision-avoidance technology, like warnings for lane departures and forward collisions, along with automatic breaking and steering assist, rare on almost all other compact sedans.
The 2017 Corolla might be more expensive than its 2016 counterpart, but that cost is more than set off by all the new features. Take advantage of them and come to Peruzzi Toyota today for a test-drive. With a large selection of 2017 Toyota Corollas, we have the vehicles you want for great prices.
The Brand New 2018 Toyota Camry
The 2018 Toyota Camry debuted earlier this month at the Detroit Auto Show. In a field of impressive vehicles, the latest Camry model was a standout and made several “best of show” lists. Despite being the best-selling car in the U.S. for 15 years, Toyota wasn’t content to coast along and embraced their wild side when creating it.
Let’s take a closer look at this exciting new vehicle.
Previous Camry models have been characterized as plain and even inoffensive. This time, engineers focused on style and high performance.
Masato Katsumata, Chief Engineer behind the 2018 Camry, said “In order to create something that stirs people’s soul, we’ve laid out the concept of a new sedan that provides fun and excitement behind the wheel…In developing the next-generation Toyota Camry, we were able to start with a clean slate, which allowed us to create a true driver’s car.”
The car has a sleek design, reducing height by about an inch. But seats are also lowered, so interior space remains the same. The exterior has also been redesigned. The hood is one and a half inches lower and has a wider space between tires to make it look like a sports vehicle. It’s still the Camry America has come to love, just with an emphasis on driving.
Plus, although official estimates aren’t out yet, Car and Driver suspects that the hybrid model will be able to reach 50 mpg in cities!
The 2018 Toyota Camry is expected to release late this summer. Come get yours later this year at Peruzzi Toyota! We also have a wide selection of the best-selling car in America’s current models. Visit Peruzzi Toyota today and become a part of the Camry family.
Toyota Maintenance Schedules
So, you bought a new Toyota Corolla and are loving it. Here’s a quick question: what’s your vehicle’s maintenance schedule? Proper maintenance is an important part of owning a car, and you don’t want to neglect it.
Ideally, you should check your vehicle every week or so. That might seem like a lot, but allows you to catch any problems early on. Your owner’s manual can give you a more exact timeframe for checkups, specific to your vehicle. In addition, it can walk you through how to properly check various components and even advice you on how to fix some basic problems.
But for some maintenance checks, you need to go to professionals. For a Toyota Corolla, it’s recommended to schedule basic service, like rotating tires, checking the brakes and changing the oil and filter, every 5,000 miles. At 15,000 miles, you’ll want your heating/AC, hoses, fluids, exhaust, steering and more looked at. And, for every 30,000 miles, it’s a good idea to have all of those components examined in addition to your fuel tank, gas cap and emission system. ToyotaCare, a special no cost service plan, covers factory scheduled maintenance this like for 2 years or 25,000 miles.
And if uncover another problem along the way, don’t worry. All Toyotas comes with a 36-month/36,000-mile Basic Coverage warranty. If that’s not enough, there are more options, like the Powertrain Coverage, offering 60 months or 60,000 miles on the engine, transmission, seatbelt and airbags. There’s also the Rust-Through Coverage, which covers any corrosion perforation for 60 months, and Emissions Coverage, which varies by state.
The next time you’re having trouble with your Toyota, bring it in to the experts at Peruzzi Toyota. Our service department can take care of all your service needs. So don’t wait, come give your vehicle the proper maintenance it deserves today.
